The City of Lanett was incorporated in 1866. According to 2000 Census numbers, the population of Lanett is 7,897. In the center of town, stands Lanett City Hall, which houses the Administration Offices, Fire& EMS Dept., Police Dept. and, Utilities.

Government

Lanett has a Mayor and 5 Council Members elected by districts. City Council Meets 1st & 3rd Monday of each month at 6:00 P.M. EST

Police & Fire & EMS

Lanett Police Department has 27 Sworn Officers and 31 Total Personnel. Lanett Fire & EMS has 17 sworn officers & 39 total personnel (volunteer/full time).

Facilities/Services

Citizens receiving city gas, electricity, sewage treatment & water receive only one bill. Lanett also provides Recreational Programs, a Senior Citizens Center and operates its own city school system. Currently in the preliminary stages of developing a new Skate Park that will accommodate activities for BMX Bikers, Rollerbladers & Skateboarders. Plans are to expand to a community recreation center in the future.
