Students seeking to continue their education after graduating from high school have excellent choices within an easy commute.
Southern Union State Community College (www.suscc.edu), a two-year college with an academic campus in Valley as welll as a technical and academic campus in Opelika, is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Applied Science and Associate in Occupational Technologies Degree. Technical certificates are also available.
Columbus State University now offers classes in West Point (westpoint.colstate.edu). CSU professors teach a variety of courses in career-focused areas such as business, communication, and computer science in downtown West Point. In-state tuition is available for nearby Alabama residents of Chambers, Russell and Lee counties.
Four-year degrees, as well as Master’s and Doctoral degrees, are available at nearby Auburn University (www.auburn.edu).
