The City of Valley was incorporated in 1980. According to 2000 Census numbers,
the population of Valley is 9,198. In the center of town, stands Valley City Hall,
which houses the Administration Offices, EMS Dept., Police Dept. and Public Works.
Government
Valley has a Mayor and 7 Council Members elected by districts.
Police & Fire & EMS
Valley Police Department has 28 sworn officers, 36 total personnel & 16 Patrol Cars
Valley EMS has 10 sworn officers, 18 total personnel (volunteer/part-time).
East Alabama Water & Fire provides fire protection for the citizens with 10 Full-Time
Officers, 1 Part-Time Officer & 24 Volunteers.
Facilities/Services
A new 54,000 square foot community center will feature an indoor pool,
consisting of a zero-depth entry for non-swimmers and physically challenged
individuals, an 8 lane competition section for meets, a whirlpool for physical
therapy, two racquet ball courts, two gyms that can be opened into a large meeting
room to serve as a community center, fitness room, game room, catering/kitchen,
indoor walking track and two meeting rooms.
