CCDA Legislative Seminar
On February 21st the CCDA, along with Balch & Bingham, LLP, hosted a Legislative Seminar for local businesses in Chambers County. Among county and city representatives, were 30 business owners both large and small. The topics for discussion at the lunch event were laws coming out of the current administration both statewide and on a federal level relating to employment.
Topics discussed were the American’s with Disabilities Act, Unemployment & Labor Laws, Family Medical Leave Act, Social Networking Policies, Equal Opportunity lawsuits among companies, Religious Discrimination, etc.
The seminar was very informative for the ones that attended and many questions were asked after the presentation. Feedback to the CCDA of the seminar indicated that business owners want more events like this. “It is very exciting for us to be able to offer events like this for our business owners. We are here to help educate them on the best practices of doing business so that they can be the most successful here in Chambers County “ said Kimberly Fuller of the CCDA. “A big thank you goes out to Charlie Patterson and Jeff Starling for their presentations. We are grateful their firm for allowing them to do this for us. “
Plans for future events are currently being made and will include continuing education on security for your businesses, healthcare, workforce development to name a few.
