Four Star Freightliner Makes Valley Its Seventh Location
VALLEY, AL (May 23, 2019) – On Wednesday morning, the City of Valley welcomed a new business, Four Star Freightliner, to Chambers County. At the groundbreaking ceremony, Valley Mayor Leonard Riley, the Chambers County Development Authority staff and board, the Valley City Council and other city officials all came out to welcome the new company to the area. Four Star is locating on an 11-acre site in the Valley Industrial Park off Exit 77.
During Mayor Riley’s official welcome, he expressed his gratitude and shared insight on the process of recruiting the business. He said that after several meetings, over a several year time span, the process “did not seem to be making any progress.” However, after acquiring several acres of land along the interstate he knew there was not a better commercial lot to offer the company than the one they are currently developing on. Despite the company already having locations in different cities in Florida, Georgia and Alabama, Mayor Riley said he believes the Valley location will be the best location for the company. “This location is probably more visible than any other location they’ve got,” Riley said. Temporarily, Four Star Freightliner has been operating in Valley, while construction is being completed on their permanent home located at 1051 Four Star Drive.
Four Star Principal Dealer Jerry Kocan decided to make Valley the home for the company’s seventh and possibly last location because it has the opportunity to serve customers in Auburn, Opelika and Columbus. Kocan believes he has placed his business in a great location, as he calls it, “the center of thriving communities.”
At the groundbreaking, Kocan thanked his customers, family, friends, the CCDA, and the City of Valley for their support. Four Star Freightliner will have an outstanding impact on Chambers County’s effort to retain and develop the workforce in the area. “We are looking forward to being a part of the community and employing a lot of Chambers County and Valley people,” he said.
Kocan, bought the assets and assumed the locations of the Freightliner Dealerships formerly known as Coblentz Truck Center (Montgomery, Alabama) and Freightliner Trucks of Dothan (Dothan, Alabama) from Daimler in 1999. In 2000 the two businesses were brought together as one. Kocan is excited to have its seventh location in Valley, Alabama. The facility is set to open in the fourth quarter of this year.
